On the slopes of the Great Western Tiers, the Mole Creek Karst National Park protects an internationally significant karst system renowned for its numerous spectacular caves. A guided tour through two of these, Marakoopa and King Solomons Caves, is a highlight of any visit to the area. Both show caves are home to a range of fascinating animals adapted to the lightless environment. The glow-worm display in Marakoopa Cave is the largest youll see in any public access cave anywhere in Australia. The Mole Creek Karst National Park offers a range of activities including easy walks through the beautiful forest around the caves.

Tahune Airwalk - Hobart to Geeveston - 61km & Geeveston to Tahune - 28km
This beautiful reserve on the banks of the mighty Huon River is now the home of the popular Tahune Forest AirWalk, two swinging bridges and visitor centre. When exploring the Huon Trail, don’t miss the adventure of walking through the canopy of Tasmania’s renowned Southern Forests. At nearly 600 metres, the Tahune AirWalk is one of the longest tree top walks in Australia. It offers a ‘bird’s-eye’ view of wet eucalypt forest, culminating in a spectacular cantilever above the confluence of the mighty Huon and Picton Rivers. Other activities include guided tours to the most easily accessible place in Tasmania to see the famous Huon Pine. The Visitor Centre offers licensed café and retail sales.

Generally camping and campervans are welcome in forest areas. No fees or bookings apply but be considerate of other users. There are many prepared sites with basic facilities, but you are welcome to camp almost anywhere in State Forest. We ask only that you leave designated day-use sites to picnickers. Whatever your choice, please be considerate of others and of the forest environment.

There are no formal guided tours at present but we encourage people to take advantage of our self-drive tours in State forests

Gordon River Cruises - Esplanade, Strahan
